Standard(s)/Course Objective(s)

  • 3.G.A.2 - Partition shapes into parts with equal areas. Express the area of each part as a unit fraction of the whole. For example, partition a shape into 4 parts with equal area, and describe the area of each part as 1/4 of the area of the shape.
  • NV 1.5.2.c - Identify, model, and compare improper fractions and mixed numbers.
  • NV 3.5.6 - Determine equivalent periods of time, including relationships between and among seconds, minutes, hours, days, months, and years.
  • 5.OA.B.3 - Generate two numerical patterns using two given rules. Identify apparent relationships between corresponding terms. Form ordered pairs consisting of corresponding terms from the two patterns, and graph the ordered pairs on a coordinate plane. For example, given the rule "Add 3" and the starting number 0, and the given rule "Add 6" and the starting number 0, generate terms in the resulting sequences, and observe that the terms in one sequence are twice the corresponding terms in the other sequence. Explain informally why this is so.
