Editing Revisions Warmup

Materials: Class set of student essays (with no visible student name-from another class or teacher), ELMO, list of editing icons, holistic and trait rubrics. Objective: Students will develop effective editing and revision strategies to self-edit and revise for improved writing skill. Students will peer edit to recognize grammar, usage and writing errors and consider improvement in ideas, organization, voice, word choice, sentence structures. Students will become familiar with holistic and trait scoring predictors in order to predict the level of writing proficiency and relate the predictors to their own writing.
