Word Choice Activity using a Thesaurus, Verbs

This activity focuses on the writing trait word choice. Students can look up the bold words (verbs) in a thesaurus and replace them with more interesting words. In order to extend this activity (for example, as a center or for acceleration), the teacher can provide students with sentences without bold words and ask students to determine which words should be replaced. Teachers can also use this template to create an activity in which students replace and/or add adjectives and adverbs instead of verbs. #Wiki-TeacherLiveJanuary11
