Letter from a Birmingham Jail Socratic Seminar

Students will read and annotate "the Declaration of Independence", Martin Luther King Jr's 'Letter from a Birmingham Jail' , an Malcolm X's "The Ballot or the Bullet". Students will prepare for and participate in a Socratic Seminar to demonstrate their understanding and interpretation of the texts, as well as their ability to apply the content of the text to the 1960's Civil Rights Movement as well as issues of today.
